Laws — The Ministry of Finance has issued a draft circular providing price management guidelines on a list of important goods and services.
Part of the list contains 15 essential items whose prices would be stabilised under the draft and registered with state agencies. They are: petrol, cement, construction steel, gas, fertiliser, rice, salt, sugar, milk, pesticide, veterinary drugs, essential preventative and curative drugs, railway transportation, materials used in producing animal feeds and animal feed.
Other items whose prices will be registered with State management agencies are coal, paper, postal services and textbooks. Industrial explosives; seaport services; aviation services; domestic flight tickets; transportation fees; medicine; domestically-made tobacco and imported and locally made autos are also listed.
According to the draft circular, relevant State management agencies will exert pressure to prevent prices fluctuating outside the range specified in the Ordinance on Price.
The new regulations will give State management agencies power to prevent price hikes following natural disasters, economic crisis, rumors and speculation.
