CA - The Economic and Budgetary Department of the
HCM City People’s Council held a meeting on July 26 to supervise the progress
of ODA-funded projects to upgrade the city’s urban areas.
The meeting was to assess the rate of disbursement,
the efficiency of investments and the obstacles that need to be removed to
allow these projects to progress.
The projects have total investment of more than
US$592 million including US$266 million of ODA capital from the World Bank and
the remaining from Vietnamese State to upgrade the infrastructure and drainage
systems that are populated with people on low incomes.
But only US$39 million have been disbursed since
1994 for those projects getting underway in 13 districts of the city.
Participates said that the slow disbursement of
capital might increase input costs and affect the efficiency of investments.
